Overview

We take you to see the Austral Fueguino Railway (End of the World Train). 7 kilometers of tracks is the total route of the legend that did not let itself die “The train of the prisoners”. Originally the route left from the prison in the center of the city of Ushuaia.
The only prisoners authorized to leave the prison were those who were rewarded for their good behavior to perform forced labor, to fetch firewood to heat the prison and the incipient city of Ushuaia that was growing next to it.
They were originally transported with shackles on their legs and back to back in precarious freight wagons. At present the departure is from the “End of the World” station, through a replica of the “Trencito de los Presos”. Visitors follow the same path that the convicts used decades ago to supply the town with firewood. Currently the wagons are heated, modern and glazed so as not to lose the best panoramic view of the journey. The train restarted its activities in 1994 for purely tourist purposes.
Hundred-year-old forests, rivers, peat bogs, and the reconstruction of an indigenous settlement parade before the passenger’s eyes during the trip on the Train at the End of the World. The ride also makes a stop at the Macarena waterfall; and in its last 3 kilometers you enter the National Park.
The train is an additional activity of the visit to Tierra del Fuego National Park. At the end, the passengers rejoin the tour with their respective vehicles and guides, touring the entire park to later return to Ushuaia.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Due to the changing weather conditions and the possibility of rain, we recommend wearing onion-type clothing, i.e. in layers. This way you will be able to remove layers when you feel hot. For trekking and adventure excursions in general, it is essential to be warm and with the appropriate footwear: waterproof clothes and trekking boots, since it is mandatory for you to be able to perform the activity.

IS THE EXCURSION SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?

Yes, there is no age limit for this excursion. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ATTEND THE VISITS WITH ANIMALS?

No, unfortunately it is not possible to attend the excursions with animals.

WHAT IS THE MEETING POINT FOR THE VISITS?

The visit to the End of the World Train is an optional part of the excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park. For this reason, we will pick up all passengers at their lodgings for the excursion to the national park and make a stop at the train station for those who want to take the ride (not included in the excursion to the park).

WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET DURING THE EXCURSIONS?

The idea of being at the End of the World is to disconnect from everything. There is wifi in our vehicles. However, when we get away from the city and hit the road, there is no phone signal or data.

DOES THE TOUR INCLUDE LUNCH/MEAL?

The End of the World Train offers different classes/services. The Premium includes meals. Please contact us to learn more about meal options on the train.
