Overview

This trekking of medium to demanding complexity allows access to exceptional panoramic views of the Tierra del Fuego landscape. The trail runs along the southeastern slope of Monte Susana, one of the characteristic geographical features of the city, both for its natural attractions and for its importance for local history. In addition, this walk allows access to exceptional panoramic views of the Fuegian landscape, from the coasts of the Beagle Channel to the Andes Mountains.

We leave the hotels by car to the west of the city, traveling the 8 km that separates the shopping center from the beginning of the trail, which is located near the coast of the Beagle Channel. This will be the same point to which it returns later.

From there we enter an area belonging to our native forest that has a unique diversity of species, among which you can find lengas, canelos and notros, and other protagonists of the Patagonian flora also inhabit.

After approximately 1 hour of walking through these forests, we access a natural viewpoint to appreciate the first views of the landscapes that surround us. There, a stop is made to take the best panoramic photographs, to begin receiving the first reward for the effort made at the moment.

The trail continues to the summit of Mount Susana, which reaches 610 meters above sea level. In this section we leave the forest behind to enter a typical mountain area, with rocky soils, surrounded by low bushes and high Andean vegetation.

Once the summit is reached, we will be able to see the immensity of the Beagle Channel, bathing the coasts of the city, and the mountains that make up the Andes Mountains, framing an extraordinary Tierra del Fuego landscape. From this height, you can enjoy a privileged view, since you can appreciate the characteristic attractions of our geography, such as Tierra del Fuego National Park, Cerro Guanaco, Navarino Island, Hoste Island, Ushuaia Bay, the Darwin Mountain Range, among others.

This is a time for rest and enjoyment and connection with nature. Meanwhile, you can have our delicious box lunch. The descent will be with renewed energy and with the impressive images of the landscapes of the end of the world in our memory.

This is a magnificent experience for those who wish to be in contact with nature, exploring the forest and the Fuegian coast. The professional guides will accompany us throughout the tour, describing the Fuegian flora and fauna, and will also allow us to understand the nature that surrounds us, its history and the reasons for its incredible landscapes.
